How to Sleep When You Can’t Fall Asleep
We all experience nights when it is difficult to fall asleep. There are a number of reasons why sleeping can turn out to be a tough task to do. Some of these reasons include depression, anxiety and stress among others. However by following the below tips, you will be able to fall asleep in minutes:
Darkness is your friend
By creating a dark environment, you will be able to fall asleep quicker. Any blue toned light will give a signal to your brain that it is not sleep time and that it should be active. By switching off the lights and your electronic devices, you’re creating a dark atmosphere which indirectly signals your brain to call it a night.
Do a brain dump
Sometimes we are unable to sleep because we have got so much going on in our mind. You may be excited because it is your first day of job tomorrow or you may be going through some relationship issues. No matter the reason one should engage in a brain dump. The latter means to simply let go of these feelings either by writing on a piece of paper or venting out to a friend.
Try breathing exercises
Breathing exercises are a great way to relax the mind and body. Focus on your breathing for a couple of minutes and pay attention to your inhales and exhales. You can also try exercises, like inhaling for four seconds, then holding your breath for a couple of seconds and then exhaling for seven seconds.
Get yourself busy
If you are lying in your bed and can’t fall asleep, then instead of wasting your time, get up and do something that will tire you out. Go read a chapter from a book or take a ten minute brisk walk around your house. When you get tired then it is easier for you to sleep.
Now you know all the tips and tricks for falling asleep instantly, no more excuses for missing out on your precious hours.
